David and Heather Schneider were raised in rural northern Ohio. Both were actively involved with horses and showing since early childhood. But they didn’t meet until their early twenties when Heather arrived at a local competition with a flat tire on her horse trailer. “David not only fixed that flat tire but caught my eye as well!” says Heather with a smile. David was already an experienced whip at the time and had much success competing the family’s Fjord Ponies. “My mom loved the Fjords, it was my personal goal to make sure she enjoyed every minute we were in the carriage.” says David.
After a few driving lessons from David, Heather soon realized that, on the carriage with David, is where she wanted to be! Together they traveled much of the Midwest and East Coast competing with horses and ponies in pleasure driving. They both
have numerous top awards from the prestigious Walnut Hill Farm, Canadian Carriage Classic and more. In 1991 Heather received the esteemed Concours d’Elegance Award at the Annual Conference of the Carriage Association of America. David and Heather had created the start of a wonderful team – yet unnamed.
It was in 1999, David and Heather married and shortly there after moved to Wind Chase Farm in Southeastern Florida where they continue to work as a team. Both love the challenge that the sport of combined driving offers. More recently, David’s single horse “Carlo” and Heather’s Team of Welsh Ponies has launched Team Wind Chase into the advanced ranks. With patience and perseverance, their combined years of dedication and training are offering them the opportunity to compete at the finest events throughout the country.
